Volunteering and spending time with several schools and orphanages throughout India was an eye opener for me. It also reinforced the belief that every child has a right to education and it is a vital tool for peace, development and freedom. The sponsorship will provide everything from proper nutrition (mostly from their own organic garden), healthcare, education, books and a home with a family of 60+ children full of compassion and love.

Last winter I set out for India to bring my vision for UNA Fashion to life. 

My mission was to create a label where a purchase has a direct and positive impact on people and our precious planet. A label that follows the principles of the slow fashion movement; to choose well and make it last. Therefor, a collection designed to be durable, timeless and functional. Lastly, a label to inspire the movement for conscious consumerism. Understanding that together, our power as consumer can change the world!

I left for India not knowing exactly where my mission would take me. The past 7 months have been a whirlwind to bring UNA Fashion to where is it today. From finding the best eco-materials, artisans, and perfecting the designs; the journey has been challenging and immensely rewarding. Finally, the eco-leather bags and scarfs are ready for you!  

Artisans in fair trade certified organizations craft the original designs. The groups have incredible missions beyond the World Trade Organization Fair Trade principles. They are made by women rescued from the sex trade in Sonagachi, Kolkata. With over 11,000 sex trade workers, it is one of the largest red light districts in Asia. The bag is made right in that same neighborhood, to create change from within.

1. How does Indiegogo work?

First, choose your desired pledge level, and the perk you would like to receive. You may choose to remain anonymous, but I'd love to know who are and any comments and feedback you may have. Leave me your addresses/ social media information as needed. Choose between the Indiegogo and Paypal checkout. You do not need a Paypal account to use this option. Lastly, enter your payment information- and receive my gratitude instantaneously…and your perk on the estimated delivery! Prior to delivery, I will be in touch to confirm your color and leather selection, and which ModPack you would like for the Early Bird Special.

2. When will I get my reward? Will it be in time for Christmas?

See the pledge level for specific delivery estimates. My goal is to ship everything in December, however, there may be some further surprises that sneak up. Therefor, I can't promise everything will be delivered in time for Christmas, which is why I have estimated the eco-leather deliveries for January. I will give updates throughout the campaign.

3. Do you have any men’s bags?

The Messenger bag is perfectly practical for both men and women. Leather is the perfect durable textile for being both elegant and rugged, appealing to all.
